Stitches Africa, an AI-driven e-commerce platform for bespoke and ready-to-wear African fashion, unveiled its mobile app in Lagos on Friday, aiming to connect African designers and tailors with customers worldwide.
Co-founder Franklyn Peters told journalists that the platform provides visibility and access to new markets for African creatives, particularly benefiting millions of Africans in the diaspora seeking authentic, custom-made clothing. “Through its AI-powered body measurement technology, customers can generate precise digital measurements for perfectly tailored fits from anywhere in the world,” he said. Users can access the platform via www.stitchesafrica.com to explore Africa’s finest craftsmanship.
Peters noted that the app offers a seamless shopping experience for verified designers’ bespoke and ready-to-wear collections, while also enabling designers to earn in foreign currency and access potential funding.
To support growth, Stitches Africa announced a $50 million financing programme aimed at market expansion, merchant production financing, logistics enhancement, and product portfolio development. Head of Marketing Joy Oikeh said the initiative, led by JF Advisory Group with Cedrus Trustees Ltd as custodian, will allow the platform to scale operations internationally while providing funding and resources for designers.
Head of Legal Ntishorkara Monkom described the initiative as “the future of African fashion commerce,” emphasizing that it empowers creators, strengthens value chains, and connects African creativity to global markets. She added that the investment reflects strong confidence in Stitches Africa’s business model and the continent’s fashion industry growth potential.
