The Adamawa State Police Command has issued a stern warning to schools and individuals over the unauthorized use of police and military uniforms. This follows the circulation of troubling photos on social media, showing students dressed in security attire during a school costume day, engaging in what the command described as inappropriate behavior that could tarnish the image of law enforcement agencies.
In a statement released on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Morris Dankombo, condemned the act, labeling it a criminal offence. He has directed a thorough investigation to identify and bring to book those behind the incident.
The police emphasized that unauthorized use of security uniforms is a punishable offence under Nigerian law. CP Dankombo noted that such actions not only disrespect the integrity of security forces but can also mislead the public and promote impersonation, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The command called on schools, organizations, and individuals to refrain from using any form of security uniforms without official approval. Nguroje reiterated that anyone found violating this directive would face legal consequences, as the command remains committed to preserving the dignity and trust in Nigeria’s security institutions.
