The Edo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mitchell Ofoyeju, has decorated seven officers who were recently promoted to the rank of Deputy Commander of Narcotics by the agency’s Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), CON.
The ceremony, held on Friday at the NDLEA headquarters in Benin City, was marked by pride and renewed commitment to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking. Those promoted include Timothy Nku Odu, James Olusola Olarewaju, Akpabio Akpan, Anthony Odu Oko, Fidelis Nkazi Heijirika, Paul Akhazee, and Mohammed Danmusa.
Ofoyeju congratulated the officers, describing their elevation as both a recognition of their dedication and a call to higher responsibilities. He urged them to remain courageous and resilient in tackling the growing challenges of drug enforcement, stressing that the promotion reinforces the agency’s determination to strengthen its operational capacity in Edo State.
Speaking on behalf of the honorees, Timothy Nku Odu expressed gratitude for the recognition, pledging that the officers would remain loyal, dedicated, and committed to their new responsibilities. “To whom much is given, much is expected. We are grateful for this promotion and will continue to serve diligently,” he said.
