In a show of solidarity and grassroots empowerment, the Executives of Chioma Abia Political Structure on Friday presented a brand-new tricycle (popularly called Keke) to one of its committed members, Mrs. Chibuzor Umeonyirimba, at the Eziama-Aba council headquarters.
The gesture, made in response to her request, was funded through the collective contributions of members, including beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDITCORP) scheme, in partnership with Syriamo Technologies Limited.
In June 2025, CREDITCORP extended affordable loans to traders at Ariaria International Market, Aba, slashing interest rates by 50%. Among the beneficiaries were five members of the political structure, who, alongside the Executives, pooled resources to purchase the tricycle as a sustainable means of livelihood for Mrs. Umeonyirimba.
Beyond serving as an empowerment tool, the initiative highlights the direct impact of the Federal Government’s consumer credit policy on ordinary citizens and reinforces the group’s commitment to uplifting its members.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Okeoma Nwaogbe, Leader of Chioma Abia Political Structure (Abia South Zone), assured that more members would benefit from such gestures. He also reaffirmed the group’s support for Governor Alex Chioma Otti, noting that “Nkweta Ndíre” has been adopted as the rallying mantra for the 2027 elections.
Overwhelmed with joy, Mrs. Umeonyirimba thanked the group for the life-changing support, pledging to utilize the tricycle to improve her livelihood. She also received assurances of swift registration with the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, to enable her start operations immediately.
The event was graced by notable figures, including Hon. Kingsley Nwachukwu (Councillor, Eziukwu Ward 1, Aba South), Hon. Chukwugirim Hilary Chukwugozie (Supervisory Councillor for Health, Aba North), Hon. Chioma Onyenwe (Supervisory Councillor for Education, Aba North), and Lady Star Nkiruka Ejiogu (Women Leader, Aba North Chapter), among others.
The empowerment drive reflects the group’s philosophy of “rising by lifting others”, as members continue to support one another while aligning with government-led initiatives for grassroots economic inclusion.
