The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has begun the sorting and distribution of sensitive materials ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Security personnel and ad-hoc staff have also been deployed to various local government areas, with security agencies escorting the election materials. Representatives of political parties were present to monitor the process.
At the RSIEC headquarters, a large crowd was observed as activities intensified. Prospective ad-hoc staff trooped in to verify their names, while election observers, monitors, and journalists carried out accreditation.
Movement into the premises was heavily restricted, with a strong security presence within and around the commission’s office.
