Former Super Eagles coach and ex-international, Samson Siasia, has expressed optimism that Nigeria can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their shaky start to the qualifiers. The team has struggled in the campaign so far, recording only one win in six matches.
Nigeria currently sits in fourth place in Group C, trailing leaders South Africa by six points. With four matches still to play, Siasia believes there is still a realistic chance of recovery if the team approaches each fixture with seriousness and determination.
“Everything is still possible, but it’s how to get it done,” Siasia stressed. He called on both the players and the technical crew to step up their efforts, insisting that only their best performance in every remaining match would keep qualification hopes alive.
The Super Eagles resume their qualification journey next week when they welcome Rwanda’s Amavubi to the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. They will then travel to Bloemfontein for a crucial clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, September 9.
