Jonathan’s Cousin Rebukes Keyamo, Odinkalu Over 2027 Speculation

Robert Azibaola, cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, has faulted Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo and human-rights scholar Prof. Chidi Odinkalu for dismissing speculations about Jonathan’s possible return to the presidential race in 2027.

In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page on Monday, Robert criticised Keyamo’s warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that Jonathan’s candidacy would face legal hurdles since he had been sworn in twice as president. He insisted that Jonathan does not need unsolicited legal advice and maintained that the former president is fully eligible to contest.

“For the record, Jonathan is 100% constitutionally and legally qualified to run if he chooses,” Robert wrote. “He has more than enough seasoned SANs to advise him, so your unsolicited legal opinions are of no concern. If he declines to contest, it won’t be because of disqualification.”

Robert clarified, however, that his statement was not confirmation that Jonathan would join the 2027 race, though the speculation has already stirred intense debate in political circles.
