Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed speculations suggesting he is eyeing the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Monday, the former Rivers State governor said he would not contest while President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains in office, stressing that loyalty and integrity guide his political choices.
“I will not run. I have integrity, I have character. There is no way my appointer is there, and I will turn around to say I want to run,” he declared.
Wike also addressed divisions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South. He noted that his dedication has helped sustain the party and warned that no opposition group can thrive amid unresolved crises.
“The duty of the opposition is to solve problems, not create more through arrogance and impunity,” he said.
Wike reaffirmed that his political stance is rooted in loyalty and party stability, not personal ambition.
