The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦6,972,000 to support 10 students of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja.
The Fund made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday, reaffirming its commitment to empowering students and strengthening educational institutions.
“We are pleased to announce the disbursement of ₦6,972,000.00 to 10 beneficiaries at African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, Nigeria,” the statement read.
Confirming the development, the university’s Registrar, Mustapha Abdul, said the fund was received on Monday, July 21, 2025. He described the intervention as timely, noting that it would ease the financial burden on the beneficiaries and enable them to concentrate on their studies.
NELFUND was established under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on April 3, 2024, to provide accessible higher education and skill development opportunities for Nigerian youth.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government disclosed on Monday that over ₦59 billion has so far been disbursed through NELFUND to more than 600,000 students across the country. Speaking in Asaba, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that no qualified Nigerian is denied tertiary education due to financial constraints.
