Nigerian champions, Bayelsa Queens, have secured a spot in the final of the WAFU B Women’s Champions League, where they will battle Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas for the title. Both teams earned their places in the showdown after hard-fought semi-final victories on Tuesday.
Bayelsa Queens had to dig deep to overcome USFA of Burkina Faso in a thrilling contest that ended 2-1. USFA drew first blood in the second minute through Comfort Yeboah, but the Nigerian side responded with strikes from Emem Essien and Seimeyeha Akekoromowei to seal the comeback.
In the other semi-final, ASEC Mimosas displayed dominance with a convincing 4-1 win over Ghana’s Police Ladies. Their emphatic performance booked them a well-deserved ticket to the championship clash.
The much-anticipated final is scheduled to take place on Friday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, where a new regional champion will be crowned.
