The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, on Thursday decorated 37 officers who were recently promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

The ceremony, held at the State Police Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, formed part of the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide promotion exercise aimed at boosting morale, strengthening operational capacity, and addressing manpower gaps across commands.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, CP Sani congratulated the officers, describing their elevation as a call to greater responsibility. He urged them to remain professional, disciplined, and committed to their duties while shunning corruption and upholding the fundamental human rights of citizens.

Responding on behalf of the promotees, DSP Ahmed Abubakar expressed gratitude to the IGP and the Police Service Commission, pledging renewed dedication to effective policing and professionalism.

The event, attended by senior officers, family members, and friends, comes at a critical time when security agencies in Kebbi face challenges such as banditry, cattle rustling, and kidnapping. The new promotions are expected to strengthen leadership within divisional commands and specialised units, while reinforcing the police force’s broader drive to enhance public trust, professionalism, and security delivery.
