Barcelona midfielder Pedri has made it clear that he values team success above individual accolades as the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony holds in Paris tonight. The Spain international revealed that lifting the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona means far more to him than winning football’s most prestigious individual award.
Speaking ahead of the gala, the 22-year-old explained that personal trophies have never been his focus throughout his career. Instead, his main objective is to ensure his team triumphs on the pitch and that fans remain entertained and proud of their performances.
Pedri’s outstanding contributions for both Barcelona and Spain in the past season have earned him a place among the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or. His creativity, consistency, and leadership in midfield have been widely recognised across Europe.
The midfielder will be up against a strong list of nominees, including Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappé, Mohamed Salah, Vitinha, and Raphinha. However, regardless of the outcome, Pedri maintains that collective glory at the club level will always outweigh individual recognition.
