Eight more clubs secured their places in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Tuesday night. Liverpool advanced after a 2-1 victory over Southampton, with Alexander Isak netting his first goal for the Reds before substitute Hugo Ekitike sealed the win despite the Saints’ equalizer.
Chelsea narrowly avoided an upset, overcoming Lincoln City 2-1, while Brighton cruised past Barnsley with a resounding 6-0 win. Cardiff City pulled off a surprise by knocking out Burnley 2-1.
Elsewhere, Fulham edged Cambridge 1-0, Wrexham defeated Reading 2-0, Wycombe saw off Wigan with the same scoreline, and Wolves dispatched Everton 2-0.
They join Brentford, Grimsby Town, Crystal Palace, and Swansea — who had already booked their spots earlier — to complete the list of 12 clubs through to the next stage.
