Obidient Movement Questions Coalition’s Shift, Reaffirms Peter Obi’s Stand on Equity Ahead of 2027

The Obidient Movement has restated its commitment to the Coalition while expressing concern over recent attempts to alter earlier resolutions regarding the adoption of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the coalition’s platform for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the movement recalled that former Anambra State Governor, His Excellency Peter Obi, aligned with the coalition after the Anambra governorship election, with his adoption publicly announced by the party. It questioned why this agreement is now being revised midway.

The group stressed that Obi, as a leader with wide national appeal, has always consulted extensively before making critical political decisions — including before joining the coalition — and would not be pressured into responding hastily to any ultimatum.

According to the statement, zoning remains a major concern for the movement, especially with the presidency currently in the South. It urged the party to uphold fairness and equity in allocating both the presidential ticket and key coalition offices, noting that inclusivity will be crucial to mobilizing support nationwide.

The movement further emphasized that Peter Obi is not driven by desperation for power but by a vision to reposition Nigeria — tackling poverty, strengthening the economy, and improving education, healthcare, and security. These goals, it noted, remain at the core of both Obi’s mission and the values of the Obidient Movement.
