A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and strong supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Alhaji Khamis Musa Darazo, has called on the Presidency and the party’s national leadership to urgently step in to prevent the reported defection of former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
Darazo described Pantami’s possible exit from the ruling party as a “major political loss and setback for the APC,” not only in the North but across the entire country.
He warned that several prominent members of the APC were also reportedly considering defection and urged the leadership to act swiftly to forestall the looming crisis.
According to Darazo, Pantami is “more than a politician, he is an intellectual, reformer, and bridge-builder who has consistently used knowledge, faith, and integrity to promote good governance and inspire young Nigerians.”
The APC stalwart commended Pantami’s service under former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his tenure as minister transformed Nigeria’s digital economy by fostering innovation, job creation, and technological advancement.
He cautioned that losing Pantami would not only weaken the party’s intellectual and moral base but also dampen the morale of millions of Nigerian youths who see him as a symbol of integrity and visionary leadership.
“The APC’s strength has always been rooted in unity, inclusion, and visionary leadership,” Darazo stated. “Every loyal member is important, especially someone like Professor Pantami, whose influence and moral standing transcend party lines.”
Darazo appealed to party stakeholders to prioritize reconciliation and inclusiveness to keep the APC strong and united ahead of future political contests.
