Turkish champions Galatasaray have reportedly made Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika their primary transfer target ahead of the January window as they look to reinforce their midfield for the second half of the season.
According to reports from Aydınlık, manager Okan Buruk has identified the Club Brugge star as a “priority signing,” noting that while the team possesses sufficient depth in goalkeeping, defence, and attack, the midfield lacks adequate rotation options.
Onyedika, 23, who was also linked with Galatasaray last summer, has once again emerged as a top candidate. He is being viewed as a potential replacement for Mario Lemina, who is expected to depart at the end of the campaign. The technical staff reportedly admire Onyedika’s versatility, describing him as a player capable of operating both as a number 6 and number 8, with the physicality, passing range, and ball-winning ability suited to Buruk’s tactical setup.
However, Galatasaray face a financial obstacle, as Club Brugge are demanding between €15 million and €20 million for the Nigerian international. Turkish outlet Sabah reports that the Istanbul giants are considering ways to reduce the cost—possibly through a loan arrangement or player exchange.
Onyedika is also said to have sought guidance from compatriot Victor Osimhen, who once played in Belgium before rising to prominence in Europe. Galatasaray are expected to initiate formal negotiations with Club Brugge in the coming weeks as they continue to chase their top midfield target.
