The people of Kogi State have thrown their weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, endorsing both leaders for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came at the grand finale of a series of rallies organised by stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, under the leadership of Senator Smart Adeyemi.

Former Governor Yahaya Bello, who led the state’s APC delegation, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement, citing his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic growth, leadership qualities, and role as the party’s founding figure. The motion was seconded by Senator Smart Adeyemi.

Bello also moved a separate motion endorsing Governor Ododo for a second term, which was seconded by the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf.

Bello praised President Tinubu as a “leader created with special grace,” saying his resilience and dedication to democracy made him deserving of re-election.

“President Tinubu has sacrificed for Nigeria’s democracy, mentored a generation of progressive leaders, and laid the foundation for the APC. We believe his leadership will continue to transform our nation,” Bello said.

He added that Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria aligns with Kogi’s development agenda under Governor Ododo, whom he described as a worthy successor.

In his address, the rally’s organising committee chairman, Senator Adeyemi, said the event was “historic” in the political evolution of Kogi State, affirming that the APC’s structure remained strong and ready to deliver victory in 2027.

“We are gathered to endorse our performing President and Governor. The turnout today shows APC’s unity and strength. Nigerians can see the difference between Tinubu’s administration, which is building and empowering citizens, and the opposition, which only looted the country’s wealth,” Adeyemi said.

He listed several achievements of the Tinubu administration, including job creation, poverty reduction through cash transfers, student loan initiatives, and economic diversification.

Governor Ododo, in his acceptance speech, thanked the people of Kogi State for their support and expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his guidance and leadership model.

“Under my administration, Kogi is mirroring the developmental strides of President Tinubu. The progress we are recording here is already a campaign for his re-election,” Ododo stated.

He assured the people that he would continue to deliver good governance and uphold the trust reposed in him.

The event was attended by top APC leaders, including the state chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello; House of Representatives member, Hon. Halims Abdullahi; former APC National Women Leader, Hajiya Salamatu Baiwa; and former Kogi Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole, among others.
