The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State on Saturday, October 25, as part of preparations for the forthcoming November governorship election.
According to a statement from the commission, the exercise is designed to test the performance of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), particularly its response time and the efficiency of result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.
The mock accreditation will take place in selected polling units across Awka South, Idemili North, Oyi, Anambra East, Aguata, and Orumba North local government areas.
“The mock accreditation exercise will enable INEC to assess the BVAS’s response time and ensure the seamless uploading of results on the IReV portal ahead of the main election,” the statement read.
INEC encouraged voters in the designated areas to participate in the exercise, noting that their involvement would help strengthen and fine-tune the electoral process before the governorship poll.
In addition, the commission announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters will take place from Wednesday, October 22, to Sunday, October 26. Eligible voters are advised to visit their original registration centres to collect their PVCs.
