The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has unveiled an artificial intelligence-driven virtual assistant designed to enhance staff training and preparedness ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.
The innovation, named the INEC Training Virtual Assistant or “INECTrainingBot,” was officially introduced on Friday.
Accessible via Telegram, the INECTrainingBot offers 24-hour access to election training materials, interactive lessons, and on-demand learning modules. The platform allows electoral officers to learn flexibly—anytime, anywhere, and at their own pace.
In a statement shared on its official X (Twitter) handle, INEC said:
> “As part of preparations for the #AnambraDecides2025 election, the Commission is leveraging technology to strengthen the capacity of its staff and stakeholders. The INEC Training Virtual Assistant, now available on Telegram, provides user-friendly, flexible, and on-demand access to essential election training resources—ensuring our personnel are well-prepared for their crucial duties.”
Key features of the new tool include round-the-clock accessibility, a user-friendly interface, and support for mobile learning.
INEC also announced that Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Anambra State will be distributed between October 22 and 26.
Additionally, the Commission will conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, October 25, across selected polling units in all three senatorial districts. The exercise aims to test the performance of the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and assess the real-time transmission of results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
