Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all roads within the state—whether classified as federal, state, or local—are constructed and maintained to support economic growth and improve the lives of residents.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony for the reconstruction of the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road, a federal highway, Governor Otti stressed that his government does not recognize any form of distinction when it comes to the development of critical infrastructure used by Abians.
“The Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road is a federal road, but for us, every stretch of road that serves our people is important and must be in good condition,” the governor stated.
He explained that most of the road users are Abia residents who depend on them for their daily commute, business activities, and the transportation of agricultural produce to urban markets.
“To that extent, we have made a firm decision that every road passing through Abia—be it federal, state, or local government—will be built and maintained to support our social and economic aspirations,” Otti added.
The governor further noted that the state government would continue to obtain necessary approvals from federal authorities whenever required, as was done for the ongoing project, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to fast-track the realization of Abia’s comprehensive development agenda.
