The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue record, generating ₦304 billion in October, the highest monthly collection ever recorded by any customs command in the country.

According to the Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Tunde Ayagbalo, the October figure surpasses the ₦264 billion collected in the same month last year.

Oshoba revealed that between January and October 2025, the command had already generated ₦2.4 trillion, exceeding the total revenue collected in 2024, two months before the end of the year.

He commended the officers and stakeholders for their dedication, describing the achievement as a sign of greater results to come.

“The latest feat is proof of our readiness to handle higher trade volumes, which will translate into greater revenue for the Federal Government,” Oshoba said.

He added that the command was preparing for a new “Drive-Through Scanning” system capable of processing about 150 containers per hour from the quayside, a move he described as revolutionary in West African port operations.

The comptroller also stated that newly promoted officers had undergone intensive training to align with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, in promoting efficiency and transparency.

Oshoba reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance policy on revenue leakages and compromise in the use of Demand Notices (DN) to recover underpaid duties.

He further emphasized the ongoing deployment of trade facilitation tools such as the One-Stop-Shop (OSS), which harmonizes all customs procedures to save time and enhance efficiency.

> “This milestone is not our final destination. We remain committed to sustaining excellence and integrity in all our operations,” he said.
