Nigeria’s Rivers United and Zambia’s Power Dynamos have been drawn into a challenging Group A of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League, following Monday’s official draw held in Johannesburg.
The draw, conducted at the SuperSport studios—CAF’s official broadcast partner—produced several exciting pairings, including a high-profile rematch between reigning champions Pyramids FC of Egypt and Moroccan powerhouse RS Berkane.
This season’s competition promises to be one of the most competitive yet, featuring a stellar lineup of seven former African champions alongside the defending title holders.
Group A is expected to be fiercely contested, with Pyramids FC and RS Berkane renewing their rivalry after last season’s CAF Super Cup final, which Pyramids narrowly won 1–0. Rivers United and Power Dynamos complete the group, setting the stage for an intense battle filled with ambition, talent, and continental experience.
Record 12-time winners Al Ahly of Egypt headline Group B, joined by Tanzania’s Young Africans, Morocco’s AS FAR, and Algeria’s JS Kabylie in what promises to be a pool rich in history and fierce competition.
In Group C, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns will face Sudan’s Al Hilal, Algeria’s MC Alger, and DR Congo’s St Éloi Lupopo — all known for their strong continental pedigree. Meanwhile, Tunisia’s Espérance de Tunis lead Group D alongside Tanzania’s Simba SC, Angola’s Petro de Luanda, and Mali’s Stade Malien.
The group stage will kick off from November 21 to 23, 2025, with two matchdays before the CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The tournament will then pause for AFCON and resume between January 23 and 25, 2026.
Knockout rounds are set to begin on March 13, 2026. The eventual champions will receive $4 million in prize money, while runners-up will take home $2 million.
