Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully foiled a coordinated terrorist attack on Mallam Fatori in Borno State, killing six insurgents and forcing others to flee with severe injuries.

The attack, launched on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, saw the terrorists deploy mortars and armed drones in a bid to overrun the military base. However, the troops, supported by reinforcements from Sector 3 Headquarters, swiftly responded and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours.

According to military sources, some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) sustained injuries during the confrontation but were promptly evacuated for treatment. The troops’ superior firepower eventually overwhelmed the insurgents, who were forced to retreat, abandoning weapons and equipment.

Recovered items from the battlefield included five AK-47 rifles, eight magazines, 258 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, five RPG bombs, four armed drone bombs, 36 hand grenades, two bandoliers, and an Android phone believed to contain critical operational data.

Intelligence reports indicate that the fleeing terrorists evacuated several bodies through the Tumbuns waterways. In a follow-up operation, the Nigerien Air Force carried out precision airstrikes on their escape routes, neutralizing additional fighters and destroying hideouts.

Military authorities confirmed that the MNJTF’s aerial platforms continue to provide real-time surveillance, support for casualty evacuation, and reinforcement operations. All wounded personnel are said to be in stable condition.

As of press time, clearance operations were ongoing in surrounding waterways and settlements to track down and eliminate the remaining fleeing terrorists.
