The leadership of Guard Time Information (GTI) Human Rights Activists Nationwide has expressed firm support for Naval Officer Lieutenant A. M. Yerima, who is currently involved in a land-related dispute with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike.

During a meeting held on Wednesday, October 12, in Abuja, the Chairman of GTI Human Rights Activists Nationwide, Mr. Bibi Oduku, joined by legal practitioners, journalists, and other stakeholders, reaffirmed their solidarity with Lieutenant Yerima. The group emphasized that the officer was performing his lawful duties and had not, at any point, made disrespectful remarks toward the Minister.

GTI commended the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mr. Mohammad Abubakar, for his commitment to ensuring that the rights of Lieutenant Yerima are protected, as reflected in his recent public statement.

The organisation also appealed to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, to address the issue with decorum and discretion, and to seek an amicable resolution through dialogue with the former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, rather than allowing the matter to escalate publicly.

GTI further urged members of the public and social media users to avoid spreading provocative or misleading information that could inflame the situation. The group stressed that peace, dialogue, and adherence to due process remain the most appropriate means of resolving the matter.
