United Nigeria Airlines reported that social media figures Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and entertainer Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, known as Mr Jollof, were handed over to airport security on Monday following a heated dispute while boarding a scheduled Asaba–Lagos flight.

The airline said its crew intervened to maintain safety and order, deboarding both passengers to prevent any disruption. A statement posted on United Nigeria Airlines’ official X account confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred during the boarding of Flight UN0523 at Asaba International Airport on the morning of 17 November 2025.

“In line with global aviation safety standards, our crew acted swiftly and professionally to de-escalate the situation,” the airline said. “Both passengers were deboarded promptly to ensure the safety and comfort of all other travelers. They were subsequently handed over to airport security for further investigation.”

United Nigeria Airlines reiterated its commitment to passenger safety, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for behavior that threatens the well-being of passengers or staff. The flight departed safely after standard procedures were completed, while the involved individuals remained with authorities.

The altercation drew public attention due to the ongoing online feud between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof, who have recently engaged in a series of public exchanges on social media. While the exact cause of Monday’s incident remains unclear, it appears linked to weeks of online tension between the two influencers.

Attempts to contact the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority for comment were unsuccessful at press time.
