Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has called for greater collaboration between the state government and clergymen to advance Abia’s developmental goals and realise the vision of a new, prosperous state.

Speaking at the Government House, Umuahia, during an enlarged meeting with Pentecostal ministers, Governor Otti, represented by his Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba emphasised the significant moral and social influence religious leaders wield in shaping society.

He said God entrusted him with a mandate to create prosperity and lift Abians out of poverty, assuring that he remains focused and undistracted by opposition criticisms.

“I want to assure you that God sent us here and gave us a mandate. We remain focused. We are not distracted by the opposition. When we came, we told Abians, ‘weep no more, for help is on the way.’ I believe that from what you can see today, you know that help has come,” Otti said.

The Governor noted that his administration is driving economic growth through reforms, infrastructure renewal, and broad-based development. He stressed that Abia, God’s Own State, requires the collective commitment of both government and the church to achieve true transformation.

Highlighting key achievements recorded over the past two years, he urged the ministers to enlighten their congregations about government activities and progress.

Governor Otti also appealed to the clergymen to encourage their members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) during the ongoing voter registration exercise. He further requested continuous prayers for the administration to strengthen democratic processes and ensure the delivery of dividends of democracy.

In their remarks, several Pentecostal leaders, including:Pastor Amara Uwaeziozi of Masters Vessel, Rev. Dr. Uche Ume of Power World Ministries, Pastor Innocent Nkemjika of Deeper Life Bible Church and Pastor Anny Ikebudu of House on the Rock, commended Governor Otti for the numerous transformative projects across various sectors. They described the achievements as clear evidence of his commitment to repositioning the state.

The ministers, however, highlighted areas requiring further attention, such as improved monitoring of officials enforcing government policies, enhanced sensitisation on government programmes, and increased mobilisation for voter registration.

They pledged their unwavering support, offering prayers for God’s continued guidance, protection, and wisdom for the Governor as he leads the state.

The ministers also thanked Governor Otti for convening the meeting, which they said has strengthened the bond between the government and the church. They assured of sustained collaboration to ensure Abia continues to flourish under his leadership, even beyond 2027.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affairs, Apostle Kenneth Wiper, was also in attendance.
