The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Alumni Association has announced plans to construct a 1,500-seat amphitheatre as part of a major infrastructure development drive for the institution.

According to the association’s National President, Yakub Adebayo, the amphitheatre is the flagship project in a N965 million development plan scheduled to commence in early 2026. He revealed that the amphitheatre alone will cost N890 million, while an additional N75 million has been earmarked for the construction of a new main gate for the polytechnic.

Adebayo made the announcement on Wednesday during the unveiling of activities marking the association’s 31st anniversary, held at its secretariat in Iree. He described the anniversary as a testament to the association’s resilience, unity, and growth, noting that it has transformed from a modest network of graduates into a vibrant body of professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders within and outside Nigeria.

He praised Osun State Polytechnic, established in 1991, for its consistent contributions to technical and vocational education in the country. Highlighting this year’s celebration, Adebayo said the multi-million-naira amphitheatre and new gate project reflect the alumni’s commitment to strengthening the institution’s infrastructure and improving the learning environment.

“As we mark 31 years of shared history and collective accomplishments, we reaffirm our dedication to advancing technical and vocational education in Nigeria,” he stated. He added that the alumni association will remain a strong pillar of support for the polytechnic through academic development, infrastructure upgrades, mentorship, and opportunities for both students and graduates.
