Veteran musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and his wife, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, have welcomed a baby boy.
Osawaru announced the birth on her Facebook page on Sunday, writing:
“Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Idibia. We joyfully welcome our bouncy baby boy into the world. May this precious little one bring endless laughter, happiness, and blessings to our beautiful family. With love, strength, and unforgettable moments as we begin this wonderful new chapter. Welcome, baby boy Idibia.”
The birth marks a new chapter in a relationship that has been in the public eye since early 2025, when the couple began appearing together publicly before their traditional wedding in Benin City in July.
At the ceremony, 2Baba wore a white short-sleeved native shirt with grey embroidery, paired with a white wrapper, coral bead accessories, and a beaded staff. Natasha dazzled in a red off-shoulder dress, the traditional Edo okuku crown made of coral beads, and layered coral jewelry on her neck, shoulders, and arms.
Their union followed 2Baba’s public announcement ending his two-decade-long marriage to actress Annie Macaulay. The former couple, who met in 1999, had two children and a high-profile wedding in Dubai in 2013, later renewing their vows in 2022 before parting ways. Annie confirmed the separation at the 17th Headies Awards in April.
2Baba proposed to Natasha on Valentine’s Eve 2025, shortly before their relationship became public. Their relationship attracted attention in April when Osawaru visited 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, following a viral video in which Mrs Idibia emotionally urged her to “remove the beads,” before ultimately giving her blessing.
Amid public scrutiny, 2Baba addressed both his new relationship and the end of his previous marriage during an appearance on the 234 Mzansi podcast. He stated, “If a marriage is not working, the couple should try to fix it. But if it still doesn’t work, no one should be forced to stay. Only the couple knows what they are going through… This thing they call ‘living in bondage’ is real.” He described Annie as an “amazing” woman and affirmed that his relationship with Natasha was unrelated to the split.
Despite initial controversies, the couple has maintained a united front. In September, Osawaru celebrated 2Baba’s 50th birthday with an emotional tribute, calling him “the love of my life” and expressing joy at their life together.
The arrival of their son has sparked celebrations across social media, with fans and well-wishers congratulating the couple on this new chapter.
