Former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has rejected allegations of financial misconduct, affirming that he remains a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The allegations stem from a previous audit-related report, which some have claimed highlighted irregularities during his tenure. Ikpeazu’s office clarified that the report was a routine procedural review and not a comprehensive financial audit, emphasizing that no wrongdoing was established.

Claims suggesting that he misappropriated huge sums of money were dismissed, with his team noting that such figures are unrealistic given the state’s revenue during his administration. No legal or anti-corruption agency has ever formally charged him in connection with these claims.

Ikpeazu also reaffirmed his allegiance to the PDP, noting his recent participation in party meetings as evidence of his continued commitment, while countering circulating rumors that he might defect to another political party.
