Gunmen on Sunday launched a violent attack in a community in Anambra State, leaving the wife of a local cleric and another individual dead. The assailants also set fire to the cleric’s residence and several vehicles, causing widespread panic among residents.

Eyewitnesses said the hoodlums struck in the early hours, overwhelming security in the area and fleeing before authorities could respond. The victims were reportedly at home when the attack occurred, prompting grief and outrage from the local community.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident and said an investigation had been launched to track down the perpetrators. “We are working tirelessly to apprehend those behind this heinous act,” a spokesperson stated, urging residents to remain calm and report any suspicious activity.

Community leaders have condemned the attack, calling for urgent government intervention to protect residents and prevent further violence. Efforts are now focused on providing support to the bereaved family and restoring security in the affected area.
