Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, told viewers on Channels Television that President Bola Tinubu stands no chance of holding onto power in 2027. He argued that the hardship gripping Nigerians has hardened the electorate, making them ready to block any attempt by Tinubu to stay in office.

Abaribe went further, insisting that Tinubu never truly won the 2023 poll, even though the courts declared him president. “We acknowledge him as president, no problem,” he said, “but the reality on the ground is that he didn’t earn that victory.”

When pressed about claims that Tinubu has never lost an election, the senator dismissed the notion, replying, “Everybody loses elections, and you will see when the time comes.” He emphasized that the mood outside the political bubble signals a strong desire for change.

The lawmaker warned that the opposition will be better organized this time, contrasting the 2023 “3 a.m. announcement” with a more vigilant electorate that will not be swayed by surprise results. He believes the 2027 vote will be a showdown between the ruling APC and a united opposition.

Abaribe concluded by stressing that the current economic collapse and security crisis leave Tinubu with few votes to cobble together for a second term, and he is confident the president will be ousted when Nigerians go to the polls again.
