Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s communications team has debunked social media claims questioning his health, insisting the rumours are baseless and that he remains active in his official duties.
In an interview, Kenny Okolugbo, Akpabio’s Consultant on Communications and Strategy, described the circulating reports as false and unfounded, emphasising that the Senate President is healthy and regularly attending legislative sessions. He noted that similar misinformation has surfaced in the past about other public figures, but actual activities quickly disproved the claims.
Okolugbo also warned against the spread of unverified information on social media, calling for stronger regulation to curb misinformation and urging the public to avoid sharing unconfirmed reports.
The rumours had alleged that Akpabio collapsed and was flown abroad for treatment, keeping him away from duties—a narrative his office firmly rejected.
