President Bola Tinubu touched down in Maiduguri on Saturday, and the Borno State Police Command had already rolled out a multi‑layered security operation. Officers from regular units, tactical squads, crowd‑control teams and bomb‑disposal experts were deployed across the city and key routes to keep the president, officials and residents safe. Traffic diversions were put in place, especially along Airport Road, and motorists were urged to cooperate and follow instructions from the officers on the ground.
The heavy security presence didn’t stop the president from carrying out his agenda. Tinubu inaugurated several development projects, including new aviation facilities at Maiduguri International Airport, a VIP wing, and a fleet of tricycles meant to boost urban transport and create jobs. He also opened a newly built primary and secondary school named after him, underscoring the government’s focus on education and infrastructure in the northeast.
In addition to the official engagements, the president attended a high‑profile wedding ceremony for Sadeeq Sheriff, son of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff, adding a personal touch to the visit. After the events in Borno, Tinubu was set to travel to Bauchi for a condolence visit and then head to Lagos for the end‑of‑year holidays, where he’ll be a guest of honour at the Eyo Festival.
The police command thanked the public for its cooperation, reminding everyone that safety is a collective effort and encouraging anyone who spots suspicious activity to report it promptly.
