The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed that recent airstrikes carried out on terrorist hideouts in the North-West were supported by intelligence cooperation with the United States. The government described the operation as a carefully coordinated effort aimed at degrading the operational capacity of terrorist groups threatening national security.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, authorities explained that the collaboration involved intelligence sharing and strategic coordination, stressing that Nigeria maintained full control over the operation. The government emphasized that the action was conducted in line with international law and with respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty.

Officials noted that the airstrikes were targeted at known terrorist camps and were executed with precision to minimize civilian casualties. The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting innocent lives and ensuring that counter-terrorism efforts do not discriminate against any ethnic or religious group.

The confirmation followed public remarks by the President of the United States, who stated that American forces had carried out strikes against terrorist elements in Nigeria. Nigerian authorities, however, clarified that the strikes were part of an existing security partnership focused on combating terrorism and violent extremism.

The Federal Government reiterated its resolve to continue working with international partners to dismantle terrorist networks, strengthen national security architecture, and restore peace to affected communities across the country.
