The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has reported that the country’s national electricity grid experienced noticeably improved stability in 2025 compared with previous years, despite long-standing challenges within the power sector.

In its end-of-year message, NISO’s Managing Director, Abdu Bello Mohammed, highlighted that fewer system disturbances occurred and that incidents were managed more effectively — a reflection of enhanced operational coordination across the network.

According to the statement, improved collaboration with key market players and stakeholders helped contain disruptions and restore supply more efficiently when challenges arose. The operator emphasized its commitment to building a more resilient and future-ready grid capable of supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and the integration of renewable energy.

NISO also noted key achievements during the year, including steps toward regional grid synchronisation and the deployment of advanced systems aimed at strengthening grid visibility and coordination ahead of 2026.
