Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has reaffirmed his commitment to the Labour Party, stating clearly that he has no plans to defect to another political party.
Speaking to residents of the state, Governor Otti emphasized that the Labour Party was instrumental in his emergence as governor and remains his political home. He clarified that his membership of the party predates that of former presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, stressing that he did not join the Labour Party alongside him.
“The Labour Party brought me to power. I joined the Labour Party before Peter Obi, so I did not join the party with him,” the governor said.
Addressing ongoing speculations about possible political realignments, Governor Otti made it clear that he is not considering defecting to any other party, whether with Peter Obi or anyone else. He assured Abians that his focus remains on governance, development, and fulfilling the mandate given to him by the people.
The governor urged residents to disregard rumors and distractions, assuring them that his administration is committed to delivering good governance, economic reforms, and improved welfare for the people of Abia State.
Governor Otti’s remarks come amid heightened political discussions nationwide, as politicians and parties position themselves ahead of future electoral cycles.
