A viral video has surfaced showing two Nigerian police officers at the Nise checkpoint in Anambra State allegedly demanding a ₦50,000 bribe from a motorist, even though his vehicle documents were in order.
In the footage, the officers are seen insisting that the driver pay the ₦50,000 for a tinted glass permit before he could continue, despite the driver explaining that his paperwork was complete and the enforcement of tinted permits is currently under legal review.
At one point, one of the officers dismisses the driver’s attempts to contact higher authorities, insisting he would not be released without making the payment.
The incident has sparked public outrage over alleged extortion and misconduct by police operatives at road checkpoints, particularly concerning the enforcement of tinted glass regulations.
As of now, the Anambra State Police Command has not issued an official response to the video or the allegations against the officers.
