Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has formally inaugurated the mo Vigilante Organization, a major step by the state government to reinforce community-based security and improve public safety across the state.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, attracted top government functionaries, security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders. Governor Uzodimma explained that the establishment of the vigilante outfit is designed to complement existing security structures and promote grassroots participation in crime prevention.
He stressed that a secure and stable environment is vital for sustainable development and economic growth in Imo State. The Governor assured that the vigilante organization will operate within clearly defined regulations and in close collaboration with formal law enforcement agencies, with strict adherence to professionalism and respect for human rights.
According to him, the Imo Vigilante Organization will begin operations immediately. Its members, drawn from communities across the state, are expected to work closely with traditional institutions, youth groups, and security agencies to enhance security at the local level.
