Auwalu Abdullahi Rano (AAR) Nigeria Limited, founded by oil and gas entrepreneur Alhaji Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, has introduced 24-hour unmanned fuel stations across the country.

The company’s first digitalised stations feature smart pumping technology that allows motorists and customers to refuel and make instant payments without the assistance of fuel attendants.

Speaking from Kano on Wednesday, Rano said, “The self-dispensing fuel pumps with instant payment are being launched in partnership with Petrosoft Limited, a Nigerian technology firm that develops management systems for the oil and gas sector.”

The partnership will enable Petrosoft to deploy its automated fuel station technology across AAR’s 200 retail outlets nationwide, including locations near Nigeria’s borders with Niger, Chad, Benin, and Cameroon.

“Our first automated fuel stations are set to begin operations from January 2026,” Rano added. “This initiative will allow motorists and motorcyclists to refuel and pay instantly, 24 hours a day, without fuel attendants.”

According to Rano, the technology aims to reduce lost man-hours at fuel stations, improve transparency, and ensure that customers receive the exact quantity of fuel they pay for.

Dr. Joshua Denila, CEO of Petrosoft Limited, emphasized the importance of home-grown solutions, stating, “Our digitalised fuel dispensing and payment systems are developed locally and built to international standards. They are designed to enhance efficiency, from individual stations to larger fueling depots across the country.”

The launch represents a significant step toward modernising Nigeria’s retail fuel market while leveraging local technological expertise.
