Yoruba nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has had his name removed from Nigeria’s list of wanted persons, paving the way for his return to the country. His spokesperson confirmed that arrangements are underway for his homecoming after prominent traditional rulers, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Ooni of Ife, intervened on his behalf.
Igboho left Nigeria in July 2021 after his residence in Ibadan was raided by security forces over allegations related to arms stockpiling and unrest linked to his campaign against armed herdsmen in southwestern communities. He was subsequently detained outside the country before rejoining his family in Germany.
Senior monarchs from the South‑West region played a key role in securing his clearance, and he is now expected to return and be reintegrated into Nigerian society. Details of his travel plans have not yet been announced.
