Peter Obi has taken aim at President Bola Tinubu over the continuous failures of Nigeria’s national electricity grid, saying the repeated outages undermine the government’s promises to Nigerians.
Obi recalled Tinubu’s campaign pledge to deliver stable electricity within his first four years, noting that the grid has already collapsed several times in recent months. According to him, the ongoing power disruptions are a serious concern for both citizens and businesses, highlighting gaps in the administration’s energy management.
He urged the government to focus on fixing domestic challenges like electricity supply, rather than prioritising foreign trips or international engagements. Obi stressed that a reliable power system is essential for economic growth, productivity, and overall national progress.
The former presidential candidate’s comments come amid mounting frustration over Nigeria’s erratic electricity supply, as frequent grid collapses continue to affect millions of households and businesses across the country.
