Abia State lawmaker, Hon. Lucky Udoka Nweke Johnson, has commended the inauguration of a new office for the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Isuikwuato Zonal Command, describing it as a major boost to environmental protection in the area.
Hon. Johnson, who was recently appointed patron of the NFSS Isuikwuato Zonal Command and represents Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, spoke during the commissioning ceremony held in Ahaba, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State.
He described the establishment of the office as a significant milestone for both the community and the security service, noting that it would strengthen efforts aimed at safeguarding forests and natural resources.
“The Nigeria Forest Security Service plays a vital role in protecting our forests, wildlife and ecosystem. Your work helps in combating deforestation, desertification and other environmental threats,” he said.
The lawmaker also expressed appreciation to traditional rulers (Ndi Eze) and other stakeholders who attended the event, acknowledging their support for the command’s activities.
Hon. Johnson pledged continued support for the NFSS, urging its leadership and members to remain committed to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development in the region.
The inauguration of the new office is expected to enhance the command’s operations and further advance environmental conservation initiatives across Isuikwuato and its environs.
