Armed groups launched an attack on a village in the Faskari area of Katsina State on Tuesday, killing several residents and leaving many others injured, despite recent peace arrangements aimed at reducing unrest in the region.
According to local security officials, the gunmen entered the community in the afternoon, firing shots and creating panic as people tried to escape. After the assault, the attackers reportedly withdrew into surrounding forest areas before security forces arrived.
Residents said a number of homes were damaged during the raid, forcing families to flee to safer locations nearby. Authorities noted that casualty figures are still being verified as emergency teams continue their assessments.
The incident has renewed concerns among community leaders who say ongoing dialogue efforts have not fully stopped armed violence in some rural districts. Security agencies say patrols have been intensified while investigations continue.
