Nigeria’s Super Falcons will kick off preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with the opening of their pre-tournament camp on February 20. The move marks the official start of their build-up toward defending their continental crown.
The team will gather in Nigeria for intensive training sessions aimed at building fitness, team cohesion, and tactical awareness. This camp will provide the coaching staff an opportunity to finalize the squad and assess players’ readiness for the tournament.
Following the initial camp, the Super Falcons will participate in a regional invitational tournament in Côte d’Ivoire from February 27 to March 7, where they will face competitive teams from across Africa, including Ghana and Senegal. This will offer crucial match practice ahead of the main event.
The 2026 WAFCON, which also serves as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, is scheduled to begin on March 17 in Morocco. Nigeria has been drawn into a challenging group alongside Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi, promising exciting encounters for the continental champions.
As multiple-time African champions, the Super Falcons aim to defend their title and make a strong statement on the continental stage. Preparations are expected to intensify in the coming weeks as the team focuses on fitness, strategy, and building momentum ahead of the tournament.
