Safety Fears Rise as Abuja Primary School Buildings Fall Into Severe Disrepair

Serious concerns have emerged over the condition of a public primary school in Abuja, where damaged buildings and missing roofing have left several classrooms exposed and unsafe for learning. Pupils are reportedly being taught in partially open structures after sections of the school were badly affected by weather and long-term neglect.

Teachers and community members say multiple classrooms can no longer be used, forcing students from different grade levels to share limited space. This overcrowding has disrupted normal lessons and made it harder for instructors to manage learning effectively.

Parents have expressed worry about sending their children to the school, citing risks linked to falling debris, heat exposure, and rainwater entering teaching areas. Some families are considering moving their children elsewhere if repairs are not carried out soon.

Local stakeholders are urging authorities in the Federal Capital Territory to urgently inspect the facility and begin rehabilitation work. They say quick intervention is necessary to restore a safe and proper environment for pupils and staff.
