An Arik Air flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt made an emergency landing at Benin Airport on Wednesday after pilots noticed an engine issue during the journey. The crew safely shut down the malfunctioning engine, ensuring the safety of all 80 passengers and crew on board.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an inquiry into the incident to determine the cause of the engine problem and whether any safety protocols need revision.

Investigators are set to examine the aircraft, review flight data and cockpit recordings, and interview the crew to gather comprehensive information about the event.

Authorities confirmed that while the situation was serious, the prompt actions of the flight crew prevented any injuries, highlighting the airline’s commitment to passenger safety.
