Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, spent additional time in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja as investigators probed alleged mismanagement of public funds during his tenure.

The inquiry centers on concerns about the handling of substantial state loans and expenditures, which were flagged by petitions and previous committee findings.

El-Rufai remained with officials into the evening while investigators sought clarifications on several aspects of the alleged financial irregularities.

The former governor has denied any wrongdoing, describing the allegations as politically motivated, while civil society groups have called for a thorough and transparent investigation to ensure accountability and adherence to due process.
