Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has confirmed the arrival of about 100 United States military personnel and equipment to the country as part of a joint initiative aimed at strengthening security operations.
The troops reportedly landed at Bauchi Airfield in the northeast to provide training, technical assistance, and intelligence support to Nigerian forces.
Officials said the visiting U.S. personnel will work alongside Nigerian forces under national command, serving primarily as advisers and technical specialists rather than engaging directly in combat.
The deployment reflects a growing military partnership between Nigeria and the United States, aimed at enhancing the country’s capacity to tackle insurgency and other security challenges.
