The Anambra State House of Assembly has directed its Committee on Rules, Ethics, and Privileges to review the suspension of Bernard Udemezue, the representative for Ayamelum Constituency, with the possibility of reinstating him.

Mr. Udemezue was initially suspended in August 2025 after posting on social media regarding alleged neglect of his constituency’s allowance, which the Assembly described as “damaging content.”

His suspension, initially for three months and later extended for another three months, is set to expire on February 26, 2026.

Speaker Somtochukwu Udeze instructed the committee to urgently reassess the matter in line with previous resolutions and report back at the next House sitting. The Assembly has adjourned until February 19, 2026, as the review proceeds.
