Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has said he believes his recent switch to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will help secure strong backing for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. Kefas explained that his decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was based on his commitment to Taraba’s development and not influenced by money, dismissing rumours that financial incentives motivated his move.
Speaking after a meeting with the President, the governor outlined plans to collaborate more closely with the federal government on issues such as security, agriculture, and social welfare. He argued that improvements in these areas have strengthened his connection with residents, giving him confidence in delivering wide support for Tinubu’s re‑election bid in the state.
Kefas also addressed speculation of tension with retired General TY Danjuma, saying their relationship remains strong and supportive despite his new political alignment.
While some opposition figures downplay the impact of defections on electoral outcomes, Kefas remains optimistic that his move will help consolidate Tinubu’s position in Taraba ahead of 2027.
